Behind the Designs
Greetings, I’m Nyla Cowan, a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) with a B.S. in Graphic Design. I am building a multidisciplinary career across Communication, Advertising, Graphic Design, Marketing, and the Film Industry fields that allow me to merge creativity, strategy, and storytelling.
During my time at FAMU, I was deeply involved in leadership and professional development. I served as Graphic Design Co‑Chair on the executive board of the U‑Design Club and held roles as iStrike Liaison and Social Media Chair for Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society. Professionally, I worked as a graphic designer for FAMU Athletics, collaborating with multiple sports programs to elevate campus engagement and fan experiences. I also contributed design and media support to the Campus Activities Board, the National Council of Negro Women, and the Marching 100.
My passion for visual communication began in high school, where I studied Animation, Film Production, and Broadcasting through the County’s College and Career Academy. These early experiences shaped my commitment to using design and media as powerful tools for storytelling, connection, and cultural impact.
